This site is a database of the University of Kentucky Libraries microfilm master negatives, including microfilmed newspapers, manuscript collections, and other primary sources. Not all Kentucky newspapers are included in this database (e.g., The Lexington Herald-Leader and The Courier-Journal). To find other available Kentucky newspapers, search InfoKat, the Libraries' online catalog, or contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Microfilm is available at the William T. Young Library or the Special Collections Research Center in the Margaret I. King Library. If you are unable to travel to campus, you can request microfilm through your inter-library loan department or local public library.
A portion of microfilmed Kentucky newspapers have been digitized and are available on the Kentucky Digital Newspaper Program and Chronicling America. For more information on these titles visit the Kentucky National Digital Newspaper Program website.
University of Kentucky Libraries no longer digitizes microfilmed copies of newspapers and other published materials.
Requests for digitization of microfilmed copies of unpublished materials is on an individual basis.
